I received Tina at Senior Journey's name from a fellow Rotarian who had experienced working with Tina in senior health care. When Tina and I met, she made me feel at ease quickly with tackling the daunting task of trying to support my brother in finding an appropriate place to live once he was out of short-term rehab.

Tina's experience in many areas of geriatric care made the process of going through VA benefits, choosing the appropriate senior living setting, and finalizing the transfer from the rehab unit to the community so much easier. She confidentially navigated my family through this process, and I can say with joy that today my brother is physically and emotionally healthier than he has been in years. I attribute his high quality of life to the community we chose based on Tina's ability to match my brother's clinical and emotional needs to the best setting. It wasn't just about placing him, it was about finding a place he could thrive in and truly call home.

From the very first moment I met with Michelle from Senior Journeys, I felt she had my Dad's best interest in mind. The next day, both Michelle and our potential caregiver visited with my Dad and they made a plan and a schedule for in-home visits. My Dad really appreciated Michelle's help finding insurance-based PT and OT. She went out of her way to make sure that my Dad had follow-up care too. I would highly recommend Senior Journeys to anyone who needs to plan elder care for a parent. They are professional, kind, caring, and considerate.

Last week brought bad news and good news on Mom. A week ago I got a call letting me know Mom was going to be Medicare discharged, which means Medicare ceases to pay for her care and she moves to private pay ($18,000/month). This is because her progress is incremental, not significant. Thus, I was thrust into the world of navigating where to put Mom, since she was also deemed unable to go back to assisted living based on her fall risk and some disorientation. The news hit me and I was totally overwhelmed because in the midst of all this I'm solo parenting and working full time.

But, the universe smiled on me! I told my employee about my dilemma and she told me she just happened to know of a "super star" business called Senior Journeys based in Yakima, Washington! They help place seniors and also assist in working with all the players like the rehab center, home health and so forth. They stepped right in on a weekend and by Tuesday found an Adult Family Home only 1 mile from my house.

I'm immensely grateful to Michelle and Tina at Senior Journeys for directing us to Mom's new home!
